Based on my experience, it actually depended on each other's compatibility of views about friendship. In unavoidable contexts, friendship becomes an unavoidable necessity. In this case, some people have strong perspectives and that sets the tone for the actual group dynamic. In avoidable contexts, friendship mostly relies on common fulfillment of interest.
