That isn't just in my special interests, which have varied over my life - I'm now 48. I would say it's due to my ability to focus and shut out the social distraction. It may also be (but - I can't offer evidence of this) that AS people develop their analytical faculties because that is the way they compensate for their under-developed social faculties and theory of mind, a bit like blind people have, or seem to have, more acute hearing. | |
