As for the question of how a certain frequency of light takes on the phenomenon we know as “redness”, or how “feelings” are ultimately made of just a flow of electrons in the brain or the release of certain chemicals - has modern neuroscience provided any clearer answer on how qualitative experience can arise from non-conscious physical materials? Is there any smaller system that we can study to try to find the boundary between non-conscious and conscious, i.e. the tiniest brain or organism that we believe experiences qualia?

$\begingroup$ I think this question is too broad for this forum. There are already a lot of questions about qualia here - perhaps you could narrow the scope down to something you feel is not adequately covered elsewhere? $\endgroup$
