Recently, I have started to notice people who think they are smarter than other people. Actually, they really look like smart people - they do their intellectual work fast and good, they talk smart things and seen as smart by other people. Everything looked ok, until I have noticed strange pattern: they tend to limit their activities to those where they are good at and get quite annoyed if they need to get out their ruleset. Also, they ignore or slip by (gently change the subject) when they get feedback that indicates they are wrong. As a bonus, they rarely say "I don't know" and creative problem solving is big no no.

It gets me wondering how this behavior help to survive?
