After which age, humans stop acquiring new reasoning?

For instance, suppose Mr. 'X' believes that

  • capitalism is good, communism is evil or vice versa
  • a specific religion is good, all other religions are evil
  • a specific political party is good, all other parties are evil
  • ... etc.

these are examples of beliefs. People generally don't change their beliefs.

If I want to change his belief, when should I stop trying? I mean, can I change his belief if he/she crossed 40years?
