Interested to see studies completed regarding the question asked. Considering the question, there are two situations in mind.

  1. Where the particular stressful event is of a very short timespan, anywhere from 1 - 15 minutes. This event will most likely be of extreme stress severity.
  2. Where the particular stressful event is of a medium timespan, anywhere from 16 - 24 hours. This event will most likely be of above average stress severity.

It's my assumption that scientifically, there are two different ways to deal with these two types of events.
