A while ago I read about research (in some blog post) that was proving that people are able to guess numbers from time sequences (to some non-random extent) even though they are unable to explain/describe the sequence. In other words, the research claimed that people are able to learn a mathematical rule intuitively. I also remember, there was a financial reward for the person who will be able to identify the sequence rule used for the experiment and nobody was successful.

However, I am unable to find the research or anything similar.

Do you know the paper/author of the research (in case it really exists)?

Or can you recommend similar research on this exact topic?
