I'm looking for a professional term that describes the problem of someone who has difficulties in fitting in / integrating in a given group, eg: a child in school. Thanks in advance!

$\begingroup$ This seems fairly broad. Any reason you can't ask this on English Language and Usage? (I can migrate it there if you want.) I presume, though, that you are looking for relevant terminology so you can find more information? $\endgroup$ – Steven Jeuris Oct 17 at 8:36

$\begingroup$ I agree with @StevenJeuris as there are many psychological disorders which have difficulties socializing as part of the criteria for diagnosis. For a general term, this question would need to be asked in English Language and Usage. $\endgroup$ – Chris Rogers Oct 17 at 10:23
  • $\begingroup$ The context is that I'm translating a movie from Hungarian and the character says "My therapist diagnosed me as having difficulties in fitting in at school." - but in the original the speaker uses a very specific phrase only a psychologist would use! That's why I turned to this group. But I've also asked on English Language and Usage, thank you. $\endgroup$ – Hal Asangol Oct 19 at 6:41
  • $\begingroup$ the character says "My therapist diagnosed me as having difficulties in fitting in at school." - but in the original the speaker uses a very specific phrase only a psychologist would use! - so what is the translation of the Hungarian spoken in the movie you are referring to? If you can provide the phrase, maybe we can explain it and give some references to it? $\endgroup$ – Chris Rogers Oct 21 at 14:25
