I have been reading up on research carried out at Ev Fedorenko's MIT Language Lab on localising the high-level language processing regions in humans using fMRI and was wondering if any comparative research has been done elsewhere using primates trained with sign language and/or if the level of 'language' demonstrated by such animals is actually complex enough to make such a comparison study feasible?
