How would ones adult life and overall psychological development be affected by sexual abuse around the age of 10 by a stranger?

I am mostly interested in the ability to recognise, understand and express emotions, as well as the effects on the childs self-esteem development in its later adult life. I am also interested in what other aspects of psychological development might be most affected in regard to the abilities and capacities which are developed around the age of 10.

$\begingroup$ Surely this is a very broad question! You could write several PhD dissertations and a few journal articles on this and not really get a comprehensive answer. $\endgroup$ – Robert Columbia Mar 11 '17 at 23:20

$\begingroup$ I agree with @RobertColumbia. If you could narrow the area of development you are asking about it is possible it could be answered. Asking about such a broad area of development delay is not really on topic in stack sites. $\endgroup$ – Chris Rogers Mar 12 '17 at 12:06
  • $\begingroup$ Thanks, I hadn't taken in consideration how broad the question is. I tried to narrow it down, please tell me if it's still too broad to answer. $\endgroup$ – douaberigoale Mar 12 '17 at 19:23
